He left PTI, after a 4-year stint as its Chief of Bureau in Moscow to join and head India's first television news channel - TVI, started by the Business India group. He joined the Observer Research Foundation in 2004. Unnikrishnan's main area of specialization is the former Soviet space, particularly India-Russia relations.
