Now Senior Fellow - Health, Johanna Couvreur was at Institut Montaigne’s Health Program between the end of 2020 and July 2024 as mental health project manager.

For almost three years, she has implemented a pilot experiment in France’s Yvelines département aimed at improving the identification and management of common psychiatric disorders in general practice. She is director of Quartet Santé, which provides administrative support for this project, known as SÉSAME (Soins d’Équipe en SAnté MEntale” “Mental Health Team Care”), which is currently being rolled out in the Ile-de-France region, with Article 51 funding of France’s social security funding act.

A graduate of the Institut d’Études Politiques in Grenoble, she has over 20 years of experience in the healthcare sector working with charitable organizations. In her most recent role, she worked for ten years at the FondaMental Foundation, a psychiatric research foundation, as Director of Communications and Fundraising. During this time, she developed an expertise in severe psychiatric disorders, their management and the people involved. To combat the taboos and prejudices around these illnesses, she has also led advocacy campaigns, as well as several award-winning digital campaigns to destigmatize and popularize science.
