How can France become a leader in innovation?
Europe must act quickly to ensure its economic security in the face of current threats. The European Commission has proposed defensive measures, but debates persist about the best approach. How can Europe effectively coordinate its actions to guarantee its economic security, and what role does international cooperation play in this strategy?
At a time when the major powers are adopting the language of economic security, this note identifies five major strategic issues that deserve to be placed at the heart of the debate.
Europe has faced a series of terrorist attacks on its soil for over a decade, prompting the European Union to pledge a crackdown on extremism. The recent terrorist attack, on April 23, 2021 in Rambouillet, where police officer Stéphanie Monfermé was assassinated, illustrates how pressing this security challenge is. It is more necessary than ever to strengthen European cooperation and discuss the tools to tackle radicalization and the terrorist threat.
In this context, Institut Montaigne is partnering with the European Leading Network (ELNET) to host the third session of the European Summit on Islamist Radicalization and Terrorist Threat. This session will take place on June 23, from 3:00pm to 7:00pm CET, and will be dedicated to European public policies on deradicalization, the fight against Islamist propaganda online and its concrete implementation: terrorism.
With the support of former French Prime Minister Manuel Valls, this online conference will welcome prominent politicians and renowned international experts, including former British Prime Minister, Theresa May.
