Gary Clyde Hufbauer

Nonresident Senior Fellow of the Peterson Institute for International Economics

Gary Clyde Hufbauer is a Nonresident Senior Fellow of the Peterson Institute for International Economics, now living in New Mexico. Before joining the Peterson Institute in 1985, he was the Marcus Wallenberg Professor of International Financial Diplomacy at Georgetown University. From 1974 to 1980, Hufbauer served as a tax and trade official in the U.S. Treasury Department. He holds an A.B. from Harvard College, a Ph.D. in economics from King College at Cambridge University, and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. Hufbauer has written extensively on international trade and investment, international taxation, economic sanctions, and industrial policy.
